Royal Wedding Day "Village Street Party"

Would there be any interest in a “Village Street Party” to celebrate the forthcoming Royal Wedding? If there is enough interest then an application will need to be submitted to request permission to hold this. I don’t want to start the canvassing opinion and start the ‘ball rolling’ if there isn’t going to be any interest or support.  Welcome your views.

I think it would be a fantastic idea Jacqueline, a lovely fun event for the village for both adults and children….. assuming there would be enough time to organise?

It is probably too late to organise any road closures (I think we need to give 8 week’s notice?). However, thought we might have a better chance by going through the Council Parks Dept for permission to hold a Neighbours’ picnic in the park. It would be safer for younger children too and doesn’t disrupt local businesses. Ideally, local businesses might like to get involved and we could drum up some support to lay on a decent event and charge a nominal ‘entry’ fee to cover costs and possibly donate something to local worthwhile charities. Open to any suggestions. Just thought it would be good to get the whole community working together and enjoy a good party!!
