A34 road markings

I often see traffic coming from direction of Alderley towards Wilmslow and turning accross the solid RED line into Merlin car park.Considering there is a sign telling motorists to use roundabout many each day failing to do this ,do they realise i wonder that if they stop on main road waiting to turn right and are hit by another vehicle they may not have a valid insurance as they are breaking the law by crossing here and not using roundabout?

Yes, Graham i agree that vehicles turning right into the Merlin are a problem. What also concerns me is the lack of lane markings on the roundabout itself. Does anyone know if this will be done now that the road has been resurfaced?
When approaching the roundabout to drive straight on to Alderley Edge from Wilmslow it is often difficult to tell where oncoming traffic is going. Some cars take a very wide line as if they are driving into Wilmslow but are in fact going on to the bypass. some indicate, some dont.
This causes drivers to either hesitate when there is no need or to make a dash for it and hope for the best! If have seen several “near misses” when travelling home in the evenings.

The roundabout issue could easily be sorted out if people actually understood how to use a roundabout !

I’m sure they intend to put lines in, as the last job, when the roundabout works are fully complete.

I agree Dina ,i think some motorists either think that using their indicators costs more and are an optional item and /or they dont know how to drive, maybe a highway refresher course should be applicable

the roundabout problem wouldn’t have been an issue if Birse had managed to build a round roundabout (note to Birse engineers and Cheshire East planning dept - the clue is in the name) rather than the strangely shaped and cambered thing they have built.  When it was first built I assumed it was a temporary structure.  Like everything else on the bypass it is fast, cheap, rubbish and probably bears no relation to the planning application.
