Hi can anyone give me the names of pubs in the local area where well behaved dogs are accepted.  We usually go to the Ship at Wincle near Macclesfield after a walk (which has great food and a restaurant area which accepts dogs) I’m looking for other suggestions in the Cheshire area.
Thanks

Hi Jill - thanks for your dog grooming contact! Dogs are very welcome at the De Trafford Arms in Alderley and they are also allowed in The Wizard on Macclesfield Road - great for a long walk on a Sunday followed by a lazy lunch!! The Black Swan at Lower Withington also allow dogs in the bar area which is lovely but I’ve not been there for a while….happy walking!

The Plough and Flail has a lovely outdoor eating patio with heaters and I’ve taken my dog there before. Brilliant food!

I’ve just remembered that The Bull’s Head in Mobberley also accepts dogs in the bar area at the entrance to the pub… it also has a nice garden for the summer - the whole pub was refurbished last year.

Church Inn in Mobberley is very dog friendly. You can also try the Railway Inn also in Mobberley. Sutton Hall in Macclesfield is another dog friendly pub. Try the Egerton Arms in Chelford - dogs are OK in the entrance area - and the Dog at Peover.

There are websites as well but you are probably better off getting personal recommendations!

Does the Drum and Monkey (moss rose) accept dogs, it would be nice to take my dog there?

The Wizard at Alderley Edge accepts dogs any time of day any part of the pub/restaurant. There are also lovely garden and terrace areas. Water is always avaliable for your dogs and they even sell dog biscuits.

Dogs are now banned at the De Trafford - new management… you can take dogs into some of the most expensive restaurants in the world in France - but not even into a pub in (ultra-conservative) AE.

However, the Wizard is still OK, the Harrington Arms at Gawsworth, the Hanging Gate, the Ship at Wincle…but not the De Trafford.

Swettenham Arms is a fantastic Pub/ Eatery where every man/woman and his/her dog/dogs are welcome, fires, food ,wine, and ale to keep you going all winter. They even produce their own walking guide for the local area !! If you do’nt enjoy this one I would be surprised !

Swettenham Village, Near Congleton,
Cheshire, CW12 2LF.
