To light or not to light

What do people think about the fashion for bright lighting of houses, driveways and gardens that is spreading through the ritzier parts of Alderley?

A matter of personal taste no doubt, but frankly I can spot a large and swanky house perfectly well without Blackpool illuminations. Call me old fashioned but I want to see the sky at night, the stars, the moon the planets.  That is, or rather was, one of the attractions of living on the edge of the countryside before the spotlights were unleashed upon us.

Like you Graham, I find it pointless, I don’t even like little blue lights at christmas.
