Footballers fit panic rooms

According to several recent press articles worried footballers are installing panic rooms in their homes following a series of high profiles burglaries.

Apparently players from several clubs, including Manchester Utd, Liverpool and Everton, have spent upwards of £25,000 on these secure bunker-like rooms which can be equipped with panic buttons, mobile phones, wireless laptops and secure communications links that can be used if phone lines are cut.

Paul Hughes, from private security firm Benchmark PA, who is a former bodyguard of the Beckhams, is believed to have fitted panic rooms in several of the regions luxury mansions, including homes in Alderley Edge.
