Welsh Row re-opening?

Does anyone know when we are to expect the re-opening of Welsh Row? It was suggested that this would re-open prior to Christmas but have heard no news on this, and there doesn’t seem much action. Perhaps Birse are so busy basking in the glory of finishing the by-pass early - it’s gone back to the bottom of the list.

Welsh Row remain boarded up as we enter 2011.Pot holes grow deeper on Soss Moss Lane and Nursery Lane, the grassy traiangle at the end of Soss Moss Lane junction with Chelford Road island virtually destroyed by heavy vehicles.
Did hear from friends living on Welsh Row that January will see the road re-opened but I’d guess the heavy plant and buildings used by Birse will need to be shifted first.
Hope to see some trees planted soon so we don’t have to watch the tops of trucks going along the bypass. Shame the earth embankment on the Chelford Road side of the bypass was constructed so low that I could become an Eddie Stobart spotter with ease!

I have received confirmation today regarding the opening of Welsh Row.

Peter Milburn, Principal Engineer at Cheshire East Council said “Work is currently taking place on Welsh Row, and surfacing on the bridge deck and approaches is due to commence at the end of this month.

“Welsh Row will then be opened at the end Feb / beginning of March, subject to the weather”.

The one way system will be removed at the same time.
