Eaton Drive is currently a death trap, when would the council do something here? Last year their were a child been hit by a car, with the road being like an ice rink we could soon someone getting seriously hurt!

In addition to the Eaton Drive problem, irresponsible parking on Redesmere Drive within ten yards of the corner with Rileys Lane continues to restrict the available width when turning into Redesmere Drive. This problem seems to be exacerbated when an “event” is taking place at the nearby schools so perhaps these schools could take appropriate action to remind parents of their responsibilities when abandoning their vehicles with little regard for the safety of local residents, other parents and their own children.

I suspect the problems associated with Eaton Drive and Redesmere Drive have a common origin.

I live in Chelford and often pass the top of the A537 near all the schools.  There are cars parked there at ‘school times’ and as you say above for ‘events’.  I believe the schools should all be more pro-active in encouraging parents to ‘car-share’, walk or park more responsibly.  It is a hazard for locals, themselves and their children and often there is only one parent and one child in an excessively large car!

Jeffrey and Vikki,

Whilst I don’t disagree with your points but at the moment the condition of Eaton Drive is too dangerous when you see 2 out of 3 car moving sideways it’s just not safe for everybody.

The schools and the council should be responsible in making sure the main route to school is safe. If not it won’t be long till someone get seriously hurt.

I know that Aecps and the playgroup (via what feels like every letter they send out), are constantly asking for parents to park responsibly, not block driveways, etc. Its the way the parents are parking that is casuing the issue and surely you cannot expect the schools to be able to discipline the parents. I think car share is a great idea and I know from other groups I am involved in that we are not allowed to promote car sharing, its ok if the parents think of it themselves but we are not allowed to suggest it due to the nature of insurance policies, car seats and so on.
(The problem is not limited to Eaton Drive and Redesmere Drive, from the railway bridge on Davey Lane to the Tower Garage often becomes a line of cars and down towards Horseshoe Lane is regularly blocked through people parking on both sides of the road, making it difficult for cars to pass and meaning you have to be on the road before you can see if any cars are coming when you try to cross the road)
