The Wizard Walk featured last month attracted more than one hundred hits, many of which resulted in readers exploring the route for themselves using the map reproduced from the National Trust’s Walks for Everyone leaflet “Walks on Alderley Edge”. To obtain your copy, please enquire at the Trust’s Cheshire Countryside office which is situated just a short distance along the track from the main car park.

Each month we plan to feature a different walk in the area. If you have a favourite ramble and would like to share it, please let me know via this forum and we’ll aim to include it in due course.

Meanwhile we return to the National Trust estate to take a look at the legacy of old mining and quarrying activity, including ancient copper mines dating back to around 2000 BC that make Alderley Edge the oldest known metal-mining site in England.

The attached file contains full details and a map of the Historic Mines Circuit.
