Does one exist?  If not, does anyone want to join me in starting one?

Hi John

No as far as I am aware there isn’t an Alderley Edge Business Group.

There is a Traders Association which is headed up by Mitch Gilbert at Rainbow Balloons, they organise the Christmas Lights Switch On every November.

Wilmslow have an active business group which I became a member of last year, because of running wilmslow.co.uk, and I’ve recently joined the management team there - so definitely interested in seeing if Alderley Edge based businesses would like to set up a group.

I actually had a discussion a few months ago with another business in the village that was keen to be involved in setting an Alderley Edge Business Group up.

What did you have in mind?

The three main aims of the Wilmslow Business Group are:

- to network with other local businesses
- liaise with the authorities to improve Wilmslow
- to put something back into the community by raising money for charities

Could Friends of the Park join your group?  We would hope that our cafe (when it is finally built and opened) will be sufficently income generating to help enhance and improve the park and also be used to benefit other causes in the village. We would greatly appreciate help from local businesses.

Lisa, yes I became aware of the Wilmslow group and thought it would be good to have something along similar lines for Alderley.  I guess initially it could just be a social/business networking thing.  If there is enough interest though, it could become a properly constituted group to represent the business community.  Perhaps a few of us could get together for a kick-off meeting.

Susan, I’m sure your group would be welcome!

Hi, just seen this thread and wonder if anything has been able to be put in place yet? If not I’m happy to help if I can depending upon the day & time of day involved.
Personally I’d be interested in an informal networking group for businesses in the area to start with and then see how it goes on from there. I’d also be looking for a low cost network as so many of the existing ones have high membership and attendance fees and these costs mount quickly if you need to attend several networks.

Hi Jonathan,
I am aware of a Cheshire Network, but nothing else, similarly to yourself I would be very interested in attending/joining an Alderley Edge Network.

Hi Bethan
ive been to networkcheshire, but was looking for something devoted to Alderley Edge. Ive spoken to one or two people and they seem interested. Anyone interested in meeting to discuss either setting one up or if youd be interested in attending if one was running in the area please call me on 07817 381316.

I design bespoke gowns for weddings, evening wear, balls and proms etc

It seems from the posts the there are many that are interested in starting a group. I have joined on linkedin (I say joined, my request is still pending) How about we arrange a get together anyway? Meet, introduce ourselves and take it from there?

Hello everyone, a quick update on the LinkedIN group http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Alderley-Edge-Business-Network-4246440.
Thought it was time for a meeting. What day suits best? pre 9am or post 5pm?

Ive been contacted by one of our local PSCO’s about a local shop watch scheme. Anyone interested? I’ll be calling in around the village trying to drum up support for Alderley Edge Business Network next week (probably Tuesday), so i’ll see who’s interested in a Shop Watch Scheme too.

Costings for shop watch so far seem to be just £20+VAT for radio hire.

I will repost this as a NEW DISCUSSION on the main discussion page here.
