Your house may be on Google Earth

I was on Google Earth today and was shocked to find almost every house in Alderley Edge has their photos on Google Earth.

In fact almost every house in Britian has been published!

Not sure if this a good thing or bad!

Great for house hunter, bad for security!

I presume you are referring to Google Streetview which expanded its coverage to include Alderley Edge today. We’ll have an article up about it shortly.

I wonder how long it takes for someone to be spotted doing something they shouldn’t be or simply be somewhere they shouldn’t be. People in the US have been caught in all sorts of compromising situations with plenty of reports of cheating husbands getting caught out.

Yes, a friend just looked at our our house, it’s quite old though - 2 cars ago.

Hi Jon, what is your best guess on when photos of your house were taken? At the moment, i’m guessing the photos of Alderley Edge are from about the start of April 2009.

Yes I think it was early April last year.

Found my house, and I was replacing the path at the time, so its a building site (with skip) :-(

Anyone ever use google street view for anything else other than look at your own house? The wife used it to see in what area a hotel was in Paris she was going to holiday in. No hoodies were spotted, so it was presumed to be in a ‘nice’ area ;-)
