The grand opening of Alderley Edge Hockey club’s brand new artificial grass pitch, The Edge Hockey Centre at The Ryleys Playing Fields, Wilmslow Road.
The community focused day will be marked by a fantastic ‘Grow Your Own’ day of sport, sponsored by England Hockey Board (EHB) and Harvester restaurant chain.
All are welcome to come along to try the sports on offer – age and ability no barrier! Meet Olympic GB Hockey players like Sally Walton , EHB mascots Jasper and Jess and Alderleys own Eddie Edgehog.
Events at the Edge hocket centre are:
10.00: We push back at the Edge with Junior Coaching. Please come and watch, enjoy the fabulous spectator areas and admire the fast developing skills of the junior members aged 5 to 13..
12.00: Opening Ceremony
12.15: EHB Mens Trophy 2nd round Hockey match

11.30: Quicksticks – EHB renowned inflatable pitch, a brand new introduction to hockey for 7-11yr olds (or even younger!)
11.30-15.00: The Cage – Have a go in The Cage and test out the Olympic Smurf Turf for yourself
12.00: Rush Hockey – Think you know hockey? Think again. There’s a new game in town. It’s here, it’s fast, it’s furious! Have a go!
12.30: Back to Hockey – Thinking of getting back into Hockey? Or want to try it for the first time?
Another Quicksticks session for 7-11yr olds (or even younger!)
12.30: BBQ lunch available
13.00: Screening of Man U v Man City match on the telly in the clubhuse.
13.30: Quicksticks – again.7 -11yr olds
13.45: Rush Hockey – Open to all, equipmnet provided
14.15: Back to Hockey - Thinking of getting back into Hockey? Or want to try it for the first time?
14.30: Quicksticks – Final kids session.
There will also be taster sessions of Cricket, Squash and Tennis during the afternoon.
