5   Best Duck ever?

Earlier this week I and my wife, rather than cooking at home, thought we would take advantage of the 25% off food at the Bubble. We had two main courses and two puds. We both ordered the Duck Breast and it was fantastic; tender, juicy and cooked to perfection with wonderful vegetables. The desert of sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream was a sensation my wife is still going on about 4 days later...I wonder if they do it as a take away? The service was friendly and efficient, wine well priced.

5   Excellent - A fantastic night out

My family and I went to the bubble room for my 50th. I had previously always gone to places in manchester for birthdays etc but wanted to stay local for the big 5 0. We decided on the bubble because we've always had a great time there and and once again it didn't disappoint.

After being shown through to our table we ordered starters & mains. My wife had the king prawn & squid risotto, my daughter had the pate and my mother and I enjoyed the antipasti for 2 platter with meats and calamari.

For mains my wife and daughter both had the seabass fillets with chorizo and potato salad with rocket, my mother had the cajun red snapper with rice and creol sauce and i had the 10oz sirloin cooked to perfection.

The whole meal was brilliant with great service, great food and the manager jordan looked after us the whole night making sure everything was perfect for my birthday.

To finish we all shared a sticky toffee pudding & a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake.

The restaurant had a really nice and cosy atmosphere where you could just relax and not worry about people rushing you to turn the tables over for new customers.

A great night out and thanks to the bubble for making my birthday perfect with my family.

3   Is it a restaurant or a bar?

My wife and I visited The Bubble Room on Friday 19th March 2010 at 18:30. You first enter in the bar area and we discovered that just one waitress had been left to serve the bar and restaurant...she was literally running around the place serving everyone.

We were escorted to our table in the back room (with seemingly one million light bulbs hanging from the ceiling), which was cosy and welcoming. We chose the Aberdeen Angus burger and the fish and chips.

The drinks were reasonably priced and the food arrived after about 30 minutes (the waitress apologised). The burger was excellent and the meat thick and tender. The fish and chips was average. For desert, we tried the trio of cheesecakes (served in three glass dishes), which was a refreshing twist on cheesecake and felt like a light mousse rather than a heavy pudding.

By around 19:30, the bar was very busy and there were now 5 staff members serving. Most of the staff were in the bar and we felt the business was a bar first and restaurant second, though the food was good.

4   Love the Bubble Room!

We have been to the Bubble Room on four occasions since moving to Alderley Edge in January.

Specifically, we love the atmosphere every time we go (we have been mid week, Friday evenings and Saturday lunch time) and the choice of drink available on the menu is great.

We had a small problem with one of our meals recently. After informing the waiter this was taken care of straight away and wouldn't deter us from returning in the future.

We will be bringing all our friends and relatives to The Bubble Room when they come and stay with us!

4   Sunday Evening at the Bubble Room

We arrived quite early and the bar was already busy while the restaurant area at the back was nearly empty. However, we had come to enjoy the live music (in the bar) so we managed to find a table and settled in to some very comfortable chairs. The Bar area is comfortably furnished and decorated in an ecletic style that combines chandeliers with more modern pieces. The atmosphere was 'buzzy' and there were groups of fellow diners who had obviously come along intending to have a good time, despite the cold March wind.

The menu was varied and versatile with both main courses and 'Light Bites' available, that could be added to with side dishes & sundries. I asked for the delicious sounding haddock with eggs and spinach but unfortunately this was temporarily 'off'. So I opted for spare ribs from the Light Bite menu with a side order of 'home-made' chunky chips. Both were very good and the ribs were a generous portion. My fellow diners had salmon with mussels - voted excellent; roast chicken (half) - judged very good and a chicken (breast) burger - also good. The service was possibly a little slow but we were told in advance that it would be, as the chicken was cooked to order and chef was concerned to ensure it would be done through to the bone - so rather a few extra minutes wait than to eat raw chicken!

The wine list was extensive and ranged from the very reasonable to the very expensive. We ordered by the glass and the rose was corked but this was exchanged swiftly with no fuss.

Our entertainment for the evening was a 'soul' singer with backing tracks. I'm told there is a variety of singer guitarists in a range of styles each Sunday. Good voice and plenty of old standards with some material I didn't recognise but a bit too loud for easy conversation (although it didn't seem to stop the other tables).

All in all a very pleasant place with good food, the right level of service and friendly atmosphere - recommended!
