5   Let's Remind People

Just paid another visit and guess what?

Really good value, really good food, really friendly service ...... and to get this we make a 56 mile round- trip drive.

Fosters are still doing it right eating in or taking away. Keep it going.

5   What a Night

On Saturday night we attended a birthday party at Foster's Chippy.

What a night, the food was fantastic, hot tasty and plenty of it (including top of chips FOC). But the highlight of the night has got to be the staff, especially Jade and Thomas. We had intended just eating then going out but we ended up staying for over 2 hours.

Highly recommended to everyone. Thanks Fosters you made a great night even better... ten out of ten (10/10)

5   Batter than the coast!

Well, quite frankly I’m surprised at these negative comments, although everyone has their own opinion.

Every time I have eaten in or taken away, the food has been exemplary, in fact its better than some fish and chip shops located on the coast, and just because a chip shop is coastal, doesn’t mean its great or sells fresher fish.

As a fish lover I can tell you that the fish has always been incredibly fresh and they don’t just sell cod and haddock. Regarding the queuing, its a combined take-away and restaurant!! So obviously the staff are going to be a little under pressure, and queues = quality...and come on, where else do you get the chance to SPRAY your fish n chips with vinegar?

2   Go to the coast then judge

Ok this place has got a good reputation, but lets be honest its reputation lies with people who don't know good fish and chips from bad, people who have probably never tried fish and chips at the seaside and just like the novelty of a chippy tea in Alderley edge.

The chips are utterly bland and at worse they can be hard, the fish is very uninspiring and the batter has never been crisp, I've eaten here about half a dozen times but after the last meal I've given up on the plaice (joke..)

The reason I give 2 stars is because the chicken was occasionally good. People need to try other chip shops so this one will get its act together..

2   Restaurant very disappointing

What a disappointing experience dining in Fosters restaurant was. We had to wait for an age to be served, and when she finally appeared it seemed that the waitress was working under duress.

The food offered nothing in terms of improvement to the experience - soggy haddock and "moist and succulent" chicken that was anything but, bearing more resemblance to something that had spent far too long under a sun lamp.

Having never had anything other than good experiences of Fosters takeaways, this was something of a let down, particularly so given the price.

4   Good quality fish and chips

We moved to the area recently and have tried Fosters on two occasions. Both were very positive and although we can't comment on eating in, (as we had take out), the food has been very good indeed.

We moved from the North East and lived near the east coast, so we have been spoilt with fish and chips from the likes of Whitby, South Shields and Filey in the past, however, Fosters definitely compares favourably with these other fish and chip eateries/locations.

We will most definitely be back and will try eating in next time.

Well done Fosters! Great fish and chips. No soggy batter on the fish!!

4   Seems good value to me

I went to Fosters recently as it had been recommended to us. We had excellent portions of take-away cod & chips at a very reasonable £5 each and the portions were not small. I believe the £6.75 quoted by your other commenter, refers to the 'eat-in' price, which I guess reflects the extra cost of the service. In my experience, to get an equivalent portion in any other restaurant or even pub, would be at least £6.75 and you could pay much more than that. Both the chips and fish were excellent quality and my wife especially liked the mushy peas!! Don't know about the Credit Crunch lunch but it sounds like a local retailer showing a creditable concern for his customers to me!

4   Credit Crunch Lunch

I just love their fish & chips! There's always a bit of a queue at lunchtime (or there is whenever I go), which is a good sign. They do a superb value for money Credit Crunch Lunch for £3 that consists of a small fish (or pie, sausage, or whatever else you prefer) with chips and a sundry (peas, beans, barm cake etc) The fish isn't exactly small and neither are the other portions!! Yum, yum!!
