Junior School pupils at Alderley Edge School for Girls have been successful in a regional Art competition.

The competition, entitled 'Growing up where I live', invited children from across the region to create a painting which they felt best demonstrated growing up in the area.

The girls, who are part of the Gifted and Talented creative Art Stars group at the school, produced some fantastic designs and out of over one thousand entries, three artistic pupils – Claudia Hayes, Olivia Merry and Tilly Greenbank were shortlisted for the competition.

Their paintings were recently exhibited at The Cube Art Gallery in Manchester where overall winners were selected.

Claudia in Year 4 was awarded a 3rd place prize for her painting of Congleton, whilst Olivia in Year 5 had her work highly commended.

Mrs Westwood, who teaches the Art Starts group commented, "We would like to say well done to all of the girls who took part in the competition, it is fantastic that some of our girls have been recognised as some of the region's most talented young artists. We are sure they will keep up the good work!"
