Art brings joy to The Christie Hospital

Christies

Year 10 pupils at Alderley Edge School for Girls were invited to a special celebration evening held at The Christie Hospital Critical Care Unit as a thank you for their hard work, ideas and creative contributions to the hospital. Over seventy girls produced artwork to be placed on the walls in the Critical Care Oncology Unit to improve the overall environment for patients and staff alike.

Year 10 Form Captains and their Deputies represented the school alongside Mrs Jackie Jamieson, Head of Art.

Once at the hospital, the group watched several presentations and were able to meet other members of the community who had also made valuable contributions to the Unit which included the introduction of essential oil fusion sticks for patient use and relaxation videos.

The girls' were delighted to hear that their artwork is continually praised by visitors, patients and staff, and were excited to finally see their artwork in place.

Mrs Jackie Jamieson added, "As a school, we felt it was very important to support such a project. The girls worked very hard on their artwork and it was a real honour to be invited back as special guests at the Unit and to be able to see that their efforts had paid off. We would like to thank The Christie for their warm welcome and hospitality at the event."
