City soccer success at AESG

Fun was had by all who signed up to the Manchester City Soccer School which took place at Alderley Edge School for Girls over the recent half term holiday.

Girls and boys aged 5 to fourteen spent time learning vital football skills, team formation and played games with UEFA trained City coaches and ex-first team players including Ian Brightwell and Richard Edghill.

The course helps youngsters to develop their existing soccer skills and knowledge, in addition to providing health and fitness advice. The children completed a football diary and three lucky youngsters were awarded merit prizes for their time on the course - Max Paton aged ten, Georgia Maguire also aged ten and Kallum Trinh aged seven.

Local competition winners Rachel Eyres aged nine, and Dante Vitale aged eight, who spent a full week on the course, enthused, "I've loved everything about the course, I can't pick one favourite part as it has all been great," Dante added, "It has been really good fun, my brother was on the course too. We'd like to come to the next one!"

Mike Haughton, Sports Development Manager at the Club commented, "We have had an excellent time working together with Alderley Edge School for Girls, the facilities are perfect and as we continue to encourage more girls to get involved in football, it is a great base for us. We are hoping to return to the School in February 2011 for the next course".
