Wilmslow Historical Society Talk: The Great Miss Lydia Becker - Suffragist, Scientist & Trail Blazer

Following her presentation on the Manchester mayor, Abel Heywood, Joanna Williams, historian and biographer will this time be talking about the subject of her recent book, "The Great Miss Lydia Becker - Suffragist, Scientist and Trail Blazer".

Born in Manchester, Lydia Becker has sometimes been seen as an unsung heroine of the women's suffrage movement, but she was also a talented, amateur scientist with interests in biology and astronomy.

Meeting as usual will be in the Large Hall of the United Reformed Church. We meet in the Large Hall of the United Reformed Church Chapel Lane, Wilmslow, SK9 1 PR.

Visitors are welcome £5, students are admitted free. Coffee/tea and biscuits are served at 7.30 and the lecture will begin at 8.00pm.
