Family fun day to mark station's 50th anniversary

Wilmslow FS

Firefighters in Wilmslow are looking forward to welcoming the public to an open day on Saturday 7th June to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Altrincham Road station.

The free event, showcasing a number of ways firefighters work to help and protect the public, opens from 10am until 3pm.

There will be a range of activities for all the family, including demonstrations from firefighters and fire cadets, a dramatic chip pan fire demonstration, the animal rescue team, charity stalls and much more.

Fire engines and other service vehicles will be on display, as well as one of the service's largest appliances – the hydraulic platform.

Event Organiser, Watch Manager Ryan Swindells, said: "The open day is a great way for people to come and find out about their local station and what services we deliver to the public. We want people to celebrate the station's 50th anniversary at this fantastic family day out.

"It's also a great opportunity for us to engage with the public, while still delivering some vital safety messages. We're looking forward to welcoming as many people as possible on the day, which we think is something kids will not want to miss."

Refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the day.
