Scouts parade for St George

Over three hundred beavers, cubs, scouts and leaders from the Alderley District took part in the annual St George's Day Parade today (Sunday, 27th April).

Led by the Alderley District Scout Band they marched from the playing field up Chorley Hall Lane and then down London Road to St Phillips & St James for the service.

The St George's Day Service was led by Rev Jane Parry, assisted by Rev Ben Clowes Alderley Edge Methodist Church, the theme of which was 'Friendship'.

Rev Jane Parry said "The readings and a talk about Friendship were led by Chelford Scouts and I spoke about how important it is to make your mind up about being a good friend.

"There were around 380 beavers, cubs scouts, leaders, honoured guests, parents and friends of the scouting movement - it was very impressive!"

District Commissioner, Stephen Buckley said "It was great to see so many members on parade and so many well wishers lining the streets".

After the service a dismissal was held in Alderley Edge Park.
