Builder airlifted to hospital after fall

A workman was airlifted to hospital after falling from a 4m building which is currently under construction.

Emergency services were called to Southfields on Congleton Road at 12:40 on Tuesday, 22 April.

An advanced paramedic, rapid response vehicle, a road ambulance and air ambulance, which landed in a field between Artists Lane and Whitebarn Road, were despatched to the building site.

A 47 year-old male, who suffered injuries to his left arm, pelvis, and spinal pain was taken by air ambulance to Wythenshawe Hospital.

Having watched this incident from afar, I would urge everyone to support the newly-opened North West Air Ambulance charity shop in the village. What a welcome sight it must have been to see the helicopter land - there but for the grace of God ......!
