Hockey Club Go Wild for Lauren!

Alderley Edge Hockey Club hosted an end of season charity tournament on Sunday, 30th March, where over 130 members of the club enjoyed a great day of hockey.

The chosen charity was local girl Lauren Wild's campaign to raise money for the charities supporting her through her cancer treatment – Teenage Cancer Trust and Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital.

Lauren was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in December 2013 and decided to set up a campaign to raise £14,000 by her 14th Birthday in July this year. When Lauren's hair fell out she took control and decided to have a bit of fun so she went out and purchased a fabulous green wig.

All of the players from AEHC were encouraged to 'Go Green' for the tournament and all donated match fees for the campaign. The hockey mums and the Go Wild team also baked cakes for the girls, all of which were provided in exchange for donations.

The tournament raised £1000 for Go Wild for Lauren.

Kelvin Briggs from AEHC said "Awesome day and delighted to be a part of it. Amazing what people can achieve working together, one of the most inspiring days at The Edge I can ever remember."
