Alderley Edge Luncheon Club celebrated its 50th birthday at the Alderley Edge Methodist Church on Monday, 24th March.

The luncheon club serves a hot two course meal on Tuesdays and Thursdays to retired people living in the area and is run by royal voluntary service volunteers.

Over 40 current and retired volunteers enjoyed afternoon tea, live music performed by students from Wilmslow High School and an opportunity to socialise and share memories.

Noni Watkins was presented with the second clasp to her WVS medal in recognition of over 40 years continuous and sustained service to the community. The tables were decorated with rosemary and ivy, symbols of remembrance and steadfastness which are used on the WVS medal.

Anne Bale, luncheon club manager thanked the volunteers for their service over so many years. In addition she thanked the many volunteers who helped to make the afternoon tea possible by baking cakes or lending a hand during the afternoon.

Anyone interested in volunteering or becoming a member of the luncheon club can contact Anne on 01625 582514.
