United Utilities were called to two different locations on Redesmere Drive just before Christmas where the sewers were blocked.

Upon investigation it was discovered that the sewers were full of big balls of wet wipes and baby wipes.

Cllr Melanie Connor said "Can residents please not put things down the toilet like that because the costs are going to be incurred to us soon.

"People need to be more careful."

Cllr Connor added "United Utilities are at last digging up Ryleys Lane and fixing the fault which has been there for three years and trying to solve water leaking which starts off at the top of the road at the (railway) bridge and comes down all the way down Ryleys Lane."
