Over hundred people gathered at The Yard on Sunday, 22nd December, to enjoy an evening of festive music and fun.

This year's community event was the 33rd annual Charity Carol Nite and featured live music from family and friends of the Carlton Ensemble - all of whom are professional musicians who played free of charge.

Led by Fay Wertheimer and hosted by the Pickering family, the event raise £1020 for various local charities. These were nominated by attendees on the night and include The Christie, Genesis Appeal, Sea Shell Trust, East Cheshire Hospice, Francis House Children's Hospice, MS Society, Diabetes UK, NSPCC and Derian House.

Fay Wertheimer commented "It was memorable and atmospheric night at The Yard, and sort of homecoming for a 33 year old event which has wandered round the village since Number 15 closed.

"If making £1020 charity money entails people clambering on tables to sing their hearts out so tunefully and joyously - so be it !! Here's to 2014 and the 34th - hopefully at the same place!"

Fay added "Thanks to Stewart, Jean, Sadie and Simon Pickering, their staff and caroller par excellence Paul Robinson - plus musos cellist Semay Wu, trombonist Andy Smith, trumpeter Jeremy Sassoon and violinists Elaine Turnock and Heather Henshall."
