The 14th annual Christmas Tree Collection will take place will take place on Saturday 11th January and Sunday 12th January raising funds for East Cheshire Hospice.

In January 2013 the collection raised over £68,500 for the Hospice, enough to keep the Hospice operating for just over 11 days and breaking the previous record of £60,100. Over 5,000 individual collections were made using 30 vans and support from over 120 helpers each day and over 46 tonnes of Christmas Trees were responsibly recycled.

This year the collection team are aiming to raise over £80,000 for the Hospice by collecting and recycling 6000 trees in one weekend. So far: 2,291 trees have been registered.

Since 2001 supporters of the Christmas Tree Collection have donated over £410,000 to the Hospice.

Richard Raymond, one of the organisers, said "It is a simple idea which works on the principle of save all that mess in your car by having your Christmas tree collected in return for a small donation. You book in with us and we will collect and recycle your old tree and collect your donation to the Hospice - no mess and no worries!"

The suggested minimum donation for having your Christmas Tree collected is £4 per tree, which will run the Hospice for about 1 minute, however the volunteers request that you are as generous as you can be for this worthwhile cause.

As the costs are covered by generous sponsors, every pound you donate will go to the Hospice.

To help the volunteers reach their target book your collection at www.echtrees.org.uk or by phoning Richard Raymond on 01625 612025. The closing date for collection requests is 5pm on Thursday, 9th January.
