Thirty four local scouts have achieved the highest award that is available in the scout section.
The recipients from Alderley District Scouts were invited to a special ceremony ay Parr Hall, Warrington to receive their Chief Scout Gold Awards.
These were presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs who also presented every awardee with an acorn, and a challenge.
Mark Toombs, Assistant District Commissioner, explained "The challenge is to plant the acorn in a pot and then bring it along to Chamboree 2014 to be judged by David, the winning tree will be planted at Sandiway Camp Site as part of the Memorial to World War 1."
Mark added "Our guest speaker was Jay Thompson (Scout Ambassador). Jay gave a talk on the 9 months he spent in Tuvalu (South Pacific) which has a population of 10,000. Jay had gone over there to help set up and promote scouting. It currently now has 300 members. This is what can happen if you're in scouting."
Scouts who received the Chief Scout Gold Award came from Alderley Edge, Chelford, Holmes Chapel, Goostrey, Wilmslow and Lindow.
