Parish Council launches monthly surgeries

Alderley Edge Parish Council is set to hold monthly public surgeries, which many other town and parish councils do, starting this weekend.

The surgeries will to be held for one hour on a Saturday morning, from 11am to 12 noon at the council chamber in the Festival Hall.

The first surgery for residents of the village will take place on Saturday, 14th December, offering the opportunity for people to meet with members of the parish council to discuss local issues.

Cllr Matthew Lloyd, Chairman of Alderley Edge Parish Council, said "We have decided to start holding surgeries as we want the Parish Council to be as accessible to residents as possible. We have recently introduced public speaking time at parish council meetings, however, a surgery allows a resident to meet face to face with a councillor to raise and discuss an issue in more privacy and without the time constraints of the Council meetings."

A rota will be produced and two councillors will be available at each monthly surgery. Councillors Matthew Lloyd and Duncan Herald will be attending the first public surgery on Saturday, 14th December.

Cllr Matthew Lloyd added "Of course, all councillors also continue to be available by telephone (our phone numbers are published on the Alderley Edge Parish Council website)."

Dates for the forthcoming meetings are available in our events calendar.
