Editors note: 10th September. This event has been cancelled.

This September The Eve Appeal, gynaecological cancer research fund, are involved in a worldwide event called Globeathon which aims to raise funds for and awareness of gynaecological cancers.

The UK Globeathon event is a 24 hour relay at Hare Hill from 12pm on Saturday 28th September to 12pm on Sunday 29th September.

Claire Nethersole, Voluntary & Community Fundraising Manager, explained "Your team can be as big as you want and someone from your team must be walking at all times throughout the 24 hours.

"For example if you have a team of 4 you will each need to walk for 6 hours, if you have a team of 8 you will each walk for 3 hours or if you have a team of 24 you will each walk for one hour!"

The route is just under 3km and is over beautiful rolling countryside (including a few stiles). It will take approximately 45 - 50 minutes to do one lap.

Claire added "Each member of your team needs to pay £10 registration fee which includes a free t-shirt and we ask you each to commit to raising £50 in sponsorship. Additional t-shirts can be bought for £5, please either phone 020 7605 0100 or email to order more."

If you would like to take part in Globeathon but are not sure you can get a whole team together, then send an email or call The Eve Appeal on 020 7605 0100 and they can match you up with some other people.
