Unbelievable parking on South Street?

car

Many of our readers will be only too aware that parking remains one of the biggest issues for residents of Alderley Edge.

We are frequently contacted by readers of alderleyedge.com who are astonished by where people choose to abandon their cars.

Today we were sent this photo by Marc Asquith, taken on the junction of South Street and Green Street at 5.20pm ( Friday, 2nd August).

He commented "Yet another Chelsea tractor driven by someone who should have a Ford Ka."

Quite outrageous! Countless pedestrians, road users and more importantly emergency must have been compromised by this dreadful parking.... Or perhaps not...

As a local resident I know this corner well and frankly this vehicle would have caused no real difficulty to anybody.

Unlike the many vehicles parked outside or opposite Fosters on Chorley Hall Lane.

Or the vehicles arriving over the railway bridge southbound into Alderley at excessive speeds - by which I mean more than 15-20mph.

Just my view of course.

Not yours is it Stephen? ;)

How can anyone defend such parking.

Not unbelievable, it has become too common unfortunately. The stick of a possible fine is no longer a suitable deterrent. 50 hours community service would work as I believe time will hurt more than a fine.

I find it very sad that registration plates are always obscured to protect the guilty. Isn't it about time that they were published to shame the culprits, although it's probably the case that they couldn't care less, a trait that seems to be prevalent in Alderley.
