Vandals strike in Alderley Edge Park

Some recently planted flowers have been dug up and stolen from Alderley Edge Park.

Cllr Duncan Herald noticed the plants were missing and the flower beds were damaged when visiting the park yesterday morning.

The stolen flowers had only been planted a couple of weeks ago by Cheshire East Council in the flower bed close to the car park.

Cllr Duncan Herald said "People's tax paid for these flowers to make the stroll through the park more attractive, then the scum come to pillage... bring back the village stocks!"

The damage in Alderley Edge Park follows the apparent vandalism of Nurse Hatton's memorial bench, located on the corner of London Road and Heyes Lane, at the weekend. Passers-by noticed the broken bench, which was only replaced last year, on Saturday morning.
