As many of our readers will be aware, Chorley Hall Lane was closed for a few days last month to enable Cheshire East Highways to carry out resurfacing works.
Since then we have been contacted by numerous readers to ask whether the work is complete and several people have stopped me in the village to complain about the standard of the work.
One local resident emailed "Have you seen the patch work quilt road resurfacing on Chorley Hall Lane (by Fosters chip shop)? It's an absolute disgrace."
Speaking about the work at this week's Parish Council meeting, Cllr Melanie Connor said "It looks like it has been done by children. Are they coming back, do we know, to fill in the gaps?"
A large vehicle has been left parked on Chorley Hall Lane since the work was carried out two weeks ago, leaving councillors and residents wondering whether CE Highways are going to come back to finish off Chorley Hall Lane or whether the job is considered complete.
Cllr Melanie Connor commented "What they have done is leave patches which they think are in good shape, then on Blackshaw Lane they have tarmaced up to a certain spot and left two great holes to the side because they are not the people who fill holes in, they only resurface. So you've got beautiful tarmac and two big holes."
She added "When we knew that Chorley Hall Lane was being resurfaced we thought it was going to be resurfaced from the top all the way to the bottom in one fell swoop. It must have taken longer to leave these gaps than do the whole road. It is beyond believe. I have had more complaints about this in the last week than about I have had about potholes."
Cllr Melanie Connor added "It is as if they have got no pride in the work they are doing."
I contacted Cheshire East Highways last week to enquire whether all the work planned for Chorley Hall Lane has been completed and, if so, why CEC decided not to resurface the entire road - I will update this article when I receive a response.

Here's what readers have had to say so far. Why not add your thoughts below.
The council responsible could save themselves a fortune by sacking the surveyors responsible and employing volunteers with 20/20 vision and not some jobsworth trying to justify a wage.!!!!!
(No they would have done a better job too)
Whoever did it they probably did Bourne street too.
As for poor road design,
enter the roundabout by Waters heading towards the tunnels and the forces
propel you towards the centre island, the camber is ridiculous, and so bad something has hit the centre and smashed the kerbstones , which would take a few tonnes of force.
CEC jog on.
Also remember CE did not do the job - it was contractors.
