Who makes these decisions?
Can they come on here and try and justify this to the people who pay their wages?

Can you imagine ...........
On a true scale, this is equivalent to the M6 being closed for 20 weeks due to grass-cutting ?
How pathetic .... who are these Council lunatics who make these goofy decisions.
Why on earth does the By-Pass have to be closed because of grass-cutting ?
Surely, vehicles can go round the tractors even if they stray onto the actual By-Pass ?
Yes, it really must be April 1st again this year ...........

I have been watching the grass grow on the by-pass over the last month and I was thinking that it would be a hard job to cut it due to it being two feet high, but come on - closing a by-pass for grass cutting. Thank goodness I no longer work for Cheshire East, it's run by monkeys.

You can only laugh. The alternative is to find yourself banging your head on a brick wall.

If they started work at 8am and finished at 5pm they'd do it in a day!!!!!!!

When we got the email at the PC last week we couldn't stop laughing - H & S gone mad. Why the road has to be closed is beyond me, & you can just imagine the Risk Assesment Form that some CEC employer filled in ( in a high vis jacket of course).

However I think they should be relooking at the grass cutting as a whole. Think of the bees and butterflies that live in that area. Why not do a rough cut on a sitting mower - which they seem to be quite capable of doing on the banks surrounding the road over the M6 at Sandbach - an area with more volume and faster driving all day!

Just let it grow. Much better for wildlife and plants.

Couldn't agree more Brian but its part of their obsession and probably won't back down. Think a review of how we deal with wild areas is needed.

I couldn't believe I was reading this, can it not be stopped? The whole point of allowing the wild grass to grow on embankments such as border this road is to allow wildlife such as insects, bees, birds and small mammals to flourish in an environment where they are not disturbed. Has anyone tried to contact Michael Jones or their local councillor already to get this work stopped.

Chris, you are right - no use wingeing on here, best to fire off an email to CEC.

No use addressing the matter to AEPC - they split their collective sides laughing at this costly piece of nonsense.

Cheshire East has excelled itself. There is no 'Frog Lane Roundabout' The southern end of the By-Passs is 'NetherAlderley Roundabout'. Enormous and very expensive Highway signs are only too visible. Frog Lane is an easterly lane in Nether Alderley from the Old A34, passing the side of the Old Hall and is clearly marked with a Road Name Sign. Nowhere near the By-Pass. What might this do to up-dating of Maps and Sat-Navs?

I hope CE cuts the right bits of grass and leaves alone all the small trees they have so sadly neglected since planting.

Will this see the end of the multiciplity of 'Diversion' and 'Road Closed' signs that have been littering the District for months, most having no relevance to any possible work in progress?
I doubt it.
