Baking fun for Alderley girls

Year 5 pupils from Alderley Edge School for Girls were treated to a breadmaking extravaganza when they were visited by a Roberts Bakery last week. The girls were guided the girls through every stage of the breadmaking process, from mixing and kneading the dough to shaping the loaves before baking.

Jayne Davison, Year 5 teacher, said: "The girls thoroughly enjoyed the day, they learnt all about how bread is made and how it can form part of a healthy lifestyle. They were delighted to roll their sleeves up and have a go at making the bread and they were really proud to produce a loaf that looked and smelled so delicious. We hope to be able to run another session like this next year"

Keith Birkett who presented to the girls commented, "This visit was great fun, with the breadmaking taking centre stage. It was also valuable for the children to examine a real life business and learn about how things like raw ingredients, packaging, logos and transport can contribute to the success of that business."
