The minutes are now available for the Alderley Edge Parish Council meeting held on Monday 11th March.

Since then I have reported on several of the issues discussed at the meeting including the motions passed regarding future use of the allotments and concerns which were raised regarding the cutting down of two trees from alongside the railway line.

The minutes of March Parish Council meeting are now available, click here to read about all the local issues discussed.

The Alderley Edge Parish Council meet on a monthly basis in the Council Chamber, which is upstairs at the Festival Hall. All meetings are open to the public and the next Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday 13th May.

Agendas for the forthcoming meetings can be found in our events section a few days prior to each meeting.

Just a quick note to Council , but being asked my opinion as resident regarding" what should we be doing ", I have found that on my morning run -well actually a quick limp around the Parish ,I have noted that the signage are generally in poor condition (bent /degraded or green with moss )Now as my jogging is under intense pressure from being overweight I cannot see my knees withstanding the distance ,whilst carrying a mop and bucket -Although I am itching to do it and clean them all down -would I be told off ? Whilst on the subject I see that the warning signs approaching the Nether Alderley primary school (from Macclesfield )are hidden by overgrown hedging ,with the solar charging device (which powers the flashing lights ) likewise pointing into the hedge . The 40mph roundel has been twisted around so it faces away from the highway . Just before we build a pedestrian crossing or look for the funding I am thinking a short term fix could be achieved with a bit of maintenance .If not next month I will do it myself for what its worth . You will recognise me I am the jogger carrying a ladder / bucket and hedge shears .!

Simon,

One of the driving forces behind Localism is exactly the problem you highlight. For example, before the 2008 election, it was noticed that signs on the Hough which warned of a narrow bridge, had been turned around and therefore not visible until after the hazard had been negotiated.

I complained and asked if the Parish lengths man could take a hammer and turn the sign around. The answer was "no" for all sorts of reasons; instead, an Inspector was sent to investigate the matter, he reported back and a TEAM was sent in high viz jackets, to rectify the sign (which was actually off the road). Makes the cost of £10 to use the public loo seem quite cheap, doesn't it.
