Finance chief's severance pay kept under wraps

Cheshire East Council has declined to confirm details of the severence package their former Director of Finance and Business Services received when she left the Council on Friday, 15th February.

Lisa Quinn left the Council's employment by mutual agreement following the DIP's (Designated Independent Person) report into the causes of the failure of the Lyme Green development project.

I submitted a request to Cheshire East Council asking for confirmation of the financial arrangements for Lisa Quinn's departure, by mutual agreement.

In response, a spokesperson for Cheshire East Council said: "The payment to Lisa Quinn took account of what was due to her under these particular circumstances along with the best balance of costs in the public interest.

"The sum of money involved will be reported in the Council's annual accounts later in the year."

Lisa Quinn is the third senior officer to leave Cheshire East Council as a result of the aborted plans to build a recycling station at Lyme Green Depot in Macclesfield which has cost Cheshire East taxpayers in excess of £800,000.

Councillor Rod Menlove, also resigned from his role as Environment Portfolio Holder, in January - as a result of the Lyme Green debacle.

Why would they tell you anything? They haven't told anyone anything yet - even when faced with FOI requests or public questions. How about a large public turnout at the next Cabinet meeting just to encourage them? There were only two members of the public at the last Cabinet meeting, though a large turnout of rather exercised councillors who do not enjoy the privilege of being amongst Council Leader Jones' Cabinet cabal were certainly there asking questions.

I was there and asked some questions too, just a few, but they were not popular with the Leader and he shouted at me, but I didn't feel special because he went on to shout at other people too.

Once again how can the can the residents and tax payers of Cheshire East expect any real information on this when the person being reported to at the top at the time was a certain Cllr Jones who didn't lose his job.....but got promoted...now is it a plan to remove anyone that could implicate or point the finger at him!!!

Cllr Jones obviously doesn't like people knowing about finances which is why most of his personal business was/is carried on offshore out of the eyes of HMRC

For those of you that don't know the history of Cheshire East Council Leader - Cllr Jones, someone better than me put up the following post on another website relating to the many issues currently being steamrollered through in Cheshire for George Osborne by his mate Cllr Jones.

Considering Cllr Jones was only elected in 2011 he can't half spend other people's money well.
Looking at his companies accounts it's a pity he doesn't contribute more in tax as he only makes £7513 net profit in his last reported accounts http://bit.ly/XrWoVy

Hard to believe this is the same person as in this article, but I don't suppose it is, as he never has liked paying tax like the rest of us!!!! http://bit.ly/KfhKw4

If the cost of the severance package is going to be reported in the annual accounts, what is the issue with publishing it now? We are left to assume that Cheshire East would prefer the amount to become known after all the fuss has died down. I don't know whether Lisa Reeves' request was made under Freedom of Information, but if so, I would have thought that the reply was not compliant with that legislation.
