The 13th annual Christmas Tree Collection will take place will take place on Saturday 12th January and Sunday 13th January raising funds for East Cheshire Hospice.

In January 2012 the collection raised over £60,000 for the Hospice to help meet its fund raising need for £6000 per day, breaking the previous record of £59,450.

Over 4,500 individual collections were made using 29 lorries and support from over 100 helpers each day. Over 44 tonnes of Christmas Trees were recycled - equivalent to 9 African elephants!

Since 2001 supporters of the Christmas Tree Collection have donated over £342,000 to the Hospice.

Richard Raymond, one of the organisers, said "It is a simple idea which works on the principle of save all that mess in your car by having your Christmas tree collected in return for a small donation. You book in with us and we will collect and recycle your old tree and collect your donation to the Hospice - no mess and no worries!"

A minimum donation of £4 per tree is suggested, which will run the Hospice for about 1 minute, however the volunteers request that you are as generous as you can be for this worthwhile cause.

This year the collection team are aiming to raise over £60,000 for the Hospice by collecting and recycling 5000 Christmas trees over the weekend - so far 1764 trees have been registered.

The suggested minimum donation for having your Christmas Tree collected is £4 per tree, which will run the Hospice for about 1 minute, however the volunteers request that you are as generous as you can be for this worthwhile cause.

As the costs are covered by generous sponsors, every pound you donate will go to the Hospice.

To help the volunteers reach their target book your collection at www.echtrees.org.uk or by phoning Richard Raymond on 01625 612025.
