Methodist Church announces two lunchtime concerts

Halle Soloists

Alderley Edge Methodist Church will host two lunchtime concerts during November.

Their regular monthly recitals continue on Wednesday 21st November with a performance by postgraduate students from the Royal Northern College of Music: violinist, Michael Jones and pianist, Andrew Dunlop.

Michael Jones is the leader of the newly founded Birmingham Festival Orchestra and has also led the Mowbray Orchestra, St Cecilia Orchestra, Manchester Consort, Sinfonia d'Amici and Kaleidoscope Orchestra. In 2011 he was selected to take part in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's professional experience scheme.

A committed chamber musician, Michael is a member of the Solem Quartet, winners of the RNCM Nossek prize and finalists in the Weil prize and Christopher Rowland Chamber Ensemble of the Year award.

Andrew Dunlop works regularly as a staff pianist for Lake District Summer Music, the National Children's Choir of Great Britain and the Geneva International Summer Festival and Academy of Music. This year, Andrew set up and founded 'Lorn Live' Chamber Music Festival in Oban, Argyll, a festival dedicated to showcasing Chamber Music masterpieces in a most beautiful setting.

Admission is by programme at the door, priced £4.00. Light lunches, charged separately, are available from 12 noon and the recital begins at 1pm.

The second concert takes place at 12 noon on Friday 30th November and will feature four of the "Hallé Soloists", including leader of the Hallé Orchestra, Lyn Fletcher.

The Halle Soloists are all principal players in Manchester's world famous Halle Orchestra. Founded and led by Lyn Fletcher, they are a chamber group of great virtuosity and flexibility with a diverse repertoire ranging from duos to octets.

All the members also enjoy successful careers as soloists outside of their orchestral commitments, and the group as a whole is becoming much in demand for chamber series' and festivals across the country.

The programme for this concert, which is the opening event of the 2012 Christmas Tree Festival, will feature: Mozart: Duo for Violin and Viola in G major K423, Prokoviev: Sonata for 2 violins in C op.56 and Kodaly: Duo for Violin and Cello op.7.

Tickets cost £5.00, and include admission to the Christmas Tree Festival. Refreshments and stalls will be available all day in the Church Hall.
