Royal reply

The Children at Alderley Edge Pre-school were delighted to find a letter from Buckingham Palace waiting for them on their return from the summer break.

Last term children had enjoyed Nicholas Allen's story of 'The Queens's Knickers' so much they were inspired to make their own designs and send them off for royal approval.

Writing from Balmoral Castle, the Queen's Lady-in –waiting wrote,

"The Queen wishes me to write and thank you all for the splendid letter and pictures which you sent on the occasion of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee.

The Queen greatly appreciated your thought for her and, although her Majesty is unable to reply to you personally, I am to thank you all very much once again for writing to The Queen in this historic year."
