Alderley Edge Parish Council are disappointed that a £50 charge has been applied to the Alderley Edge Civic Fund account because it went overdrawn.

The Alderley Edge Civic Fund is a hardship fund set up to assist, on a one-off basis, anyone living in exceptional hardship in the parish who needs money for a particular purpose.

A collection from this year's Alderley Edge Civic Service raised £360 for the fund.

Speaking at this month's Parish Council meeting, Cllr Mike Williamson informed his fellow councillors that the fund had made a payment to an individual and due to a mix up the account went overdrawn.

As a result he said that Barclay's had made "excessive charges" in the region of £50.

Cllr Williamson said "Given the money is a donation given by the people at the Civic Service I am going to try and talk to the bank and explain to them that it is not appropriate."

In recent times the fund has only received two applications and the amount of money in the fund is relatively small but Alderley Edge Parish Council have said they would like to reinvigorate the Alderley Edge Civic Fund so it makes a more positive impact in the village.
