Home entertainment manufacturer Meridian Audio is opening a showroom on London Road.

With Meridian boutiques located in several major cities around the world, including Mexico City, Singapore, Kuwait City, Bangkok and Santiago, the Alderley Edge boutique will be only the second to open in the UK.

Meridian Audio, based in Cambridge, was founded in 1977 and specialises in the design and manufacture of high-end audio, video and home theatre systems.

Director Vincent Bentham said: "From firsthand experience I am certain that the location of the boutique showroom is perfect for the type of products we offer here at Meridian Manchester. Alderley Edge seemed the obvious choice for a luxury brand and we have already received a warm welcome from the other retailers and businesses within the area."

Meridian will be marking their official opening with an invitation only launch event on Thursday 5 July, which will allow attendees to sample the audio and visual home entertainment systems and view the Meridian Lecson System, an iconic piece which won the British Design Council Award in 1974.

Created by Allen Boothroyd and Bob Stuart, the co-founders of Meridian Audio, it is believed that only 40 Lecson systems are still in existence, fetching significant sums at auction. Highly sought after by collectors, the Lecson System is currently on display in the New York Museum of Modern Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Vincent continued: "It is an honour to have one of the most innovative products over the past forty years showcased in the Meridian Manchester boutique. To experience these products first hand is the only way you can truly appreciate them."
