Budding artists are being invited to enter a painting competition at this weekend's Alderley Edge Village Fete.

Francis House Children's Hospice are organising the competition with three categories for the entries; nursery (ages 2 to 4), infants (ages 4 to 7) and juniors (ages 8 to 11).

Winners will receive a building society account with an initial deposit of £10.

The paintings will also be displayed in the marquee at the Village Fete and will be judged during the afternoon with prizes awarded at approximately 4.30pm.

Emma Bolton, organiser of the Village Fete, said "The paintings should incorporate the child's idea of a village fete and maybe the hospice logo which is a rainbow. The suggested size is no larger than A3.

"All entries should be dropped off at the Cricket Club or can be brought along on the day."

The Alderley Edge Village Fete is being held at the Cricket Club on Sunday, 1st July, from 1pm onwards.

Attractions will include stalls, vintage cars, a falconry display, chainsaw sculpture, a Formula 1 Simulator and laser clay pigeon shooting. There will also be a WFA football penalty shootout, fire engine and fair ground rides.

Refreshments will include teas and cakes served by the WI, a Pimms stall, barbecue and bar.
