The stakes were high last week as the Sixth Form pupils from Alderley Edge School for Girls took on a team of staff in a competitive hockey match at Wilmslow Hockey Club in Styal.

The match was organised by Sixth Form pupil Tessa Bryant who raised £300 from the entrance fee charged to spectators. The money raised will go to the Catholic Overseas Development Agency in order to help some of the world's poorest communities.

The game was played in good spirits and there was some excellent support from the crowds. The final score was 3 – 2 to the staff so it is likely the girls will be calling another match soon.

Mrs Waite, Head of PE commented, "It was a thoroughly enjoyable match and we must thank all Staff, Sixth Formers, ex-pupils and supporters who came along to watch, supported Tessa with her fundraising or played in the match."
