Alderley set for Christmas lights switch on

With just left six weeks until Christmas local residents can get into the festive spirit at the Alderley Edge Christmas lights switch on this Thursday, 17th November.

The annual celebration is organised by the Alderley Edge Action Group on behalf of local shops and businesses as a thank you to those who have supported them during the year.

Crowds will be entertained with live music, including performances from the Alderley District Scout Band and Alderley Edge School for Girls, and a selection of refreshments will be available, including a hog roast, mince pies, hot chocolate and Christmas treats.

Much to the delight of the children, Father Christmas will also be making a visit, along with a surprise guest, and fairground rides will be available for the little ones.

The lights will be switched on by another surprise guest who will be joined on stage by Amaya Gavin, from Year 4 at Alderley Edge Primary School and Julianna Parker from Year 5 at Alderley Edge School for Girls, who won the school's poster competition.

The Alderley Edge Christmas lights switch on will take place from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.

One can assume it won't be Carlos Teves switching on the lights this year!!

Would be interesting to know who is flicking the switch seeing as I may find it difficult to get home in time!

If it is I expect that the lights will refuse to go on.
