A new family run restaurant specialising in traditional Lebanese and Syrian food will open in Alderley Edge next month.

Yara, located in the building previously occupied by Stay Bar and Restaurant, will be run by the family behind the Altrincham restaurant of the same name, which they opened two and a half years ago.

Fuad Sabbah and his business partner Salah plan to open their new restaurant mid-October once refurbishment works to enlarge the kitchen and create more space are complete.

Fuad, 39, is married with three children and the business is named after his eldest daughter aged 9.

He told me "Our Altrincham restaurant is a very successful business as we do all the cooking ourselves and our food is the freshest.

"We bought Stay because a lot of our customers are from this area. Our hope is for it to be one of the nicest restaurant in the street in all aspects.

"Customers will be able to bring their own drinks which makes visiting our restaurant great value for money. There will be a £1 charge for corkage per bottle and we will sell a large selection of the finest Lebanese wine and beer along with others."

Visit the Yara website for more information and to view the menu.

R.I.P. Stay Bar. Remembering all the great nights spent there. You will be sadly missed.

Sorry that Stay did not stay, having enjoyed some excellent food and service there, but looking forward to Faud and welcome the idea of taking my own wine with only a charge of £1 per bottle corkage. A bargain !
