Hare Hill to host its first family fun day

A giant hare at Hare Hill c National Trust & Emma Williams

Giant hares, giant jenga and a brass band are just some of the things to enjoy at Hare Hill's first family fun day on Saturday, 13th August.

Head Gardener, Emma Hill said "Hare Hill is a bit of a 'hidden jewel' and we wanted to encourage more people to come and enjoy this lovely place.

"There'll be giant games to play in the Walled Garden, including Jenga and Quoits, Noughts and Crosses and croquet. You can try making your own bird feeder or follow our hare trail through the woods and find out the name of each individual hare. En route you'll see resident artist Ed Pilkington carving one of the giant hares made from felled wood.

"We're lucky enough to have brown hares living in the garden and Hare Hill is also a great place to spot birds, including tits, robins, bullfinches and woodpeckers. You might even be lucky enough to see a buzzard or a tawny owl."

Tea and cakes, which have been made by volunteers from the Reading Rooms in Over Alderley, will be served in the Walled Garden, and from 1.30pm you can enjoy the sound of an 8 piece brass band.

Normal admission rates apply to the garden for events, which is free for National Trust members.

We also went, the children had a wonderful time following the hare trail and playing the games in the walled garden. It was a great event and we hope they repeat it next year.
