Try Tai Chi in Hare Hill Garden

The tranquil walled garden at Hare Hill - venue for Tai Chi classes from 28 July c National Trust

Age UK Cheshire East and the National Trust are working in partnership to offer everyone a unique opportunity to try Tai Chi sessions this summer in the walled garden at Hare Hill.

Chris Comer from Age UK Cheshire East explained "Tai Chi is a system of slow controlled movements that improve your balance, flexibility, strength and coordination. This gentle exercise, which is suitable for all ages, also aids relaxation and keeps the mind calm and focused."

"The walled garden provides a delightfully tranquil environment which is ideally suited to Tai Chi. Participants will be able to extend their feeling of wellbeing by exploring the garden and surrounding woodland".

The Tai Chi sessions will be given by Xianglin Li, a Tai Chi tutor who trained in China and already runs several successful Tai Chi classes for Age UK Cheshire East. The sessions are suitable for everyone ranging from absolute beginners to those who have experienced Tai Chi before.

Emma Hill, Head Gardener at Hare Hill says: "We're delighted to be able to use the tranquillity of the Walled Garden here at Hare Hill as a space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We are hoping to introduce more events at Hare Hill this summer as it's such a wonderful and atmospheric garden."

The Tai Chi sessions will start on Thursday, 28th July, and continue every Thursday at 2pm to 3pm for a further five weeks, finishing on 1st September. There is a charge of £5 per session (£4 per session for National Trust members). Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.
