Post Office Ltd has today announced its decision regarding the proposed relocation of the Alderley Edge Post Office and confirmed that it will move from 45 London Road to the Co-op store at The Parade.

Alderley Edge Post Office has been operated by a temporary subpostmaster for over 2 years and in May Post Office Ltd announced a public consultation on their proposal, following the successful appointment of a new permanent subpostmaster.

During the consultation customers were asked for their comments regarding plans to relocate the branch to this new location. Apparently a number of comments were received which were mainly in support of the move.

A Post Office spokesperson said: "Having carefully considered all the feedback we are confident that the new service will be suitably located and can meet the needs of our customers in the local community. This move will secure Post Office services to the local community in the longer term and enable us to offer an enhanced service in Alderley Edge. The new service will benefit from level entry to the premises, low-level facilities for wheelchair users and an on-site convenience store providing the opportunity to carry out a range of shopping under one roof.

"The date the branch will move is currently being finalised."

The Co-op will offer the same range of services that are currently available with the addition of OnLine Lottery facilities and customers can still collect benefits in cash using the everyday banking services or the Post Office card account.

The opening hours will be: Monday to Friday 9am until 5.30pm and Saturday 9am until 12.30pm.
