Village fete was a scorcher

We couldn't have wished for better weather for this year's Alderley Edge Village Fete which proved to be another huge success.

Over 2000 people gathered at Alderley Edge Cricket Club to enjoy this traditional summer fete and raise over £1500 for this year's charity East Cheshire Hospice.

Organised by Emma Bolton, owner of The Lavender Tree on Brook Lane, and John Berry, manager of the Cricket Club, the Alderley Edge Village Fete has become a much loved community event.

Emma Bolton said "The whole aim of the event has always been to bring the community together, involving local businesses and to raise funds for a local charity. All of which we have definitely achieved. There was something for everyone and it was a fun filled day for all of the family.

"John and I would like to thank just some of the people involved in making the day so successful: Keith Lowe for organising all of the music and stage, all of the staff at the Cricket Club for all their hard work, Handforth Youth Brass Band and Lacey Green Steel Band for their fantastic performances, WFA and Michael Chapman for helping to raise funds for the Hospice and all of the vintage car owners for bringing along their pride and joy to share with everyone.

"We'd also like to express our gratitude to Animal Support Volunteers and The Vets Place for organising the Dog Show, all of the stall holders for supporting the event, Fulshaw WI for their gorgeous tea and cakes and everyone else who helped at the event.

"We are already looking forward to next year's event which will be held on Sunday 1st July and over the next few months we will be planning another Christmas Market and Family Fair which will be held on Sunday 4th December."
