Conservative candidate Frank Keegan has won the Alderley ward election with 72.5% of the vote.

Frank Keegan received 1151 votes compared with 436 received by the Labour candidate Dominic Brown. Turnout at the local election was 43.4% and 34 votes were rejected.

Frank Keegan moved to Alderley Edge in 1984, he has been a member of Alderley Edge Parish Council since 1987 and became a Borough Councillor in 1999.

Speaking after the result was announced, he told me "I am delighted that the ward is back to just being Alderley and I am obviously delighted to get such a large percentage of the vote.

"I like doing this job and I am glad that the people of Alderley Edge have put their faith in me again."

After such a resounding victory I wouldn't fancy being a cracked, mis-shapen or even uneven paving stone after Councillor Keegan's "Yes we Can!" moment... "In the next 4 years I would like to see a renewal of the pavements on London Road"

Hi Malcolm,

the 'new' parish council... 3 of the 9 councillors are new... one of the 'newies' is intending to take up the matter of the pavements... watch this space (as they say).

Well deserved Frank, your loyal Alderley people now need you to sort CEC, just getting the officers to do their jobs and respond to parish councils and the public would be a good start. The opportunity when creating CEC has been wasted, now time for another start. Dominic great you were first in with congratulations, and you received good support in this blue haven, I hope you stay involved in moving the village forward.

Thanks Paul, this is a amazing village and I will always be willing to support it any way I can, after the by-election last year my main motivation for standing was to give people the chance to vote so basically I am in this for the community rather than myself.
