Alderley United set the standard

Alderley United FC learned this week that they had again passed the stringent tests to retain Charter Standard status for the fourth year.

Charter Standard is the FA kite mark award which looks to provide recognition for clubs who demonstrate raising standards and offer a safe quality experience for its players.

Director of Football, Mike Nolan commented "Charter Standard and the FA Respect Campaign are at the core of our club ethos. Respect is more than just not shouting at officials or questioning their decisions. Respect everyone, the officials and the opposition, applaud them as well as our own team; respect the children’s efforts both on a technical and physical level. They are trying their best. Respect the coaches by not shouting from the sidelines."

In order to gain Charter Standard, clubs must demonstrate set standards of coaching, administration and child protection.

AUFC are now recruiting boys and girls aged 4 -16.  For further information on assessment sessions during May please visit the club website

Chairman, Dave Fleming commented "This marks a great end to our first season as a United Alderley Club. This shows how well the club is run but there is more to do and we plan to keep growing and raising our standards."

Alderley United have almost 300 players registered and have 7 FA qualified coaches. We compete in one of England’s toughest junior leagues fielding teams in the top divisions.  We have players currently on trial at Blackburn and have ‘lost’ players to Everton and Manchester United this season. We are an inclusive club accepting children whatever their level and ensure they are placed in an appropriate team.

Well done to Alderley United on this achievement. It's an exacting standard that takes a lot of hard work and management. Having managed the process for Alderley Edge Hockey Club to gain a similar accreditaion in the hockey world called 'ClubsFirst', I have massive respect for any local Sports Club that goes the extra mile to demonstrate good management, quality coaching and provides a safe, child friendly environment. In my view this should be compulsory for all sports clubs running junior sections.
